The North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) awarded Daniel Horstkamp of Energy Select its highest solar energy certification. The Photovoltaic Installation Professional (PVIP) board certification recognizes advanced expertise in solar panel design, installation, operations, commissioning, and maintenance of commercial and home solar systems.
Energy Select is an energy services company, specializing in solar power, energy audits, and LED lighting retrofits.
The PVIP certification goes beyond a simple exam, requiring accredited professionals to demonstrate experience in solar installation and design.
Horstkamp previously held the Photovoltaic Association certification from the NABCEP. He oversees the design of each of the Energy Select solar and assists in each solar installation.
“The certification not only recognizes the quality of our work,” says, Steven Tripp, Energy Select’s Director of Sales and Marketing, “but it also allows Energy Select customers access to an additional $1,000 of Maryland incentives to help pay for their system.”
The PVIP certification is one of the requirements needed for the Maryland Energy Administration’s Residential Clean Energy Grant Program. The grant offers $1,000 to eligible Maryland homeowners who install a qualified home solar system. Tripp explains, “Solar panels pay for themselves, but with the grant from the state, the panels pay for themselves even faster.”
