Energy Select, a full-service energy consultant and contractor, specializing in solar power, energy audits, and LED lighting retrofits, announced that Steven Tripp joined Energy Select as the Director of Sales and Marketing.
With Energy Select’s humble beginnings, Tripp will focus and streamlining sales and marketing practices for the company as it enters another growth period. “The Maryland General Assembly approved a 50 percent renewable energy target for 2030,” says Energy Select owner and president, James Horstkamp. “We absolutely need to be ready to meet the coming demand and Steve will help us to that.”
Tripp most recently oversaw the marketing for Chaney Enterprises and operations for Chaney subsidiary, BuilderUp, for twelve years. Prior to construction, he worked in marketing in the banking industry for ten years. While in construction, Tripp became accredited as a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Associate and won numerous awards for promoting the green building and resilience benefits of concrete. Tripp also served as the past president for the St Mary’s County Commission on the Environment.
“I was a customer of Energy Select and have been watching the company’s success for years,” explained Tripp. “I couldn’t be more excited to be part of the team. Saving homeowners and business owners money while also improving our environment is a win-win and a professional and personal aspiration.”
Energy Select works as an exclusive contractor with SMECO to administer various energy-saving programs. In Calvert and St. Mary’s counties, Energy Select administrates the small business lighting program that can cover up to 80% of the total cost to switch to LED lighting. For homeowners, Energy Select is SMECO’s exclusive contractor for the Home Energy Improvement Program (HEIP). HEIP conducts a full, free energy audit and makes recommendations to lower electric bills and covers up to $7,500 in rebates to offset the costs of the energy improvements.
In recent years, the primary area of growth for Energy Select is in solar panels. With advances in technology, rebates, and tax incentives, the cost savings is often immediate with systems fully paying for themselves in eight to twelve years.
